Godzil.net is 20 years old

Exactly 20 years ago, my main domain was bought, on the 1 of June 2004, around 8 am.

What a journey this domain have seen.

The first page that was up was pretty simple and, honestly didn’t spend long on it, other than the time to make the text image that was display centered on the page. There were nothing really there other than link to some other platform I was active:

The page stayed in that state and dormant for about 4 years until January 2008, where I used the design I made for another project to make a front page for my website. Still really little content, but it was looking a bit less sorry:

Then over the years, I’ve added some informations on the main page, but it was still pretty barebone with really little on it, and it mostly stayed in that state until May of 2024 where I decided that it was really time to put something concrete there and have some informations about me and not just a single page with really little informations.

I’ve started to look at a way to have a static blog type website, not being satisfied with Wordpress on another website of mine as I wanted the pages here to be mostly static. I found Pelican that use markdown for typing articles and pages, and was fairly simple to use and upload to my webserver.

And that’s the website you are seeing now.

I’ve finally found a use for my domain other than email and some other services running under the hood, which is to showcase my portfolio of hardware, software, music and many more projects.

I also link to my primary social media, and way to support me if you are willing to.

Feel free to visit this website, the content will evolve over time as I’m continually adding reference to my previous projects. Though I put the each article timestamp on the project creation date, as I think it is more relevant, so please if you come and visit regularily have a look though the different categories to be sure you are not missing any new informations.
